About us

Who are we?

AngSoc – the Anglican Society - is a Guild of Students society at the University of Birmingham.

AngSoc sees itself as the ‘Church of England on campus’.

We are a Christian group of students who meet regularly for worship, fellowship, friendship and fun! AngSoc welcomes people of all denominations and faiths.

AngSoc is mainly student-run but supported by our Anglican Chaplain, Revd Dr Nicholas lo Polito.  Nicholas leads our Sunday Eucharist services at the Chaplaincy attended by students of the Anglican, Lutheran and other Christian traditions (click to find out more and see what’s on at the Chaplaincy next term).

What does AngSoc mean to its members?

“From the start I felt welcomed” – we welcome everyone from Freshers to postgraduates, home students to international students.

Support from AngSoc has made a huge difference to my university experience” – AngSoc is a community which supports each other through friendship and faith.

Christ” – we aim for God to be at the centre of everything we do.

“AngSoc is somewhere I can come to relax and feel at home amongst friends”

Reaching out” – there are a number of volunteering opportunities at AngSoc both within the local area and with links in Egypt.
